Under the direction/instruction of the School Business Manager / Office Manager, the successful candidate will provide routine general, clerical and administrative support to the school and to ensure that there is a high quality first point of contact service given to all parents, carers and visitors to the school.

Vacancy description:

  • To ensure that the reception desk is covered at all times
  • To undertake initial responses to all enquiries from parent/carers, visitors or general public at reception
  • To ensure that all visitors and callers to the school are courteously and correctly received and to deal sensitively with anxious, distressed or impatient callers, whether by telephone or in person
  • Marketing the school by showing parents and visitors around
  • Manage specific computer modules
  • At the discretion of the Head Teacher, to open and distribute incoming mail. Dispatch outgoing mail, maintain supplies of stationery, postal stamps and assist with general postal/returns arrangements
  • To advise parents/carers about M&S school uniform service and lost property
  • Monitor and manage school stock resources including general supplies, photocopier supplies and to include receipting and checking of all deliveries
  • To carry out associated administrative work, including contact with parents and completion of first aid/accident forms
  • To make the necessary arrangements for routine medical and dental inspections in the school
  • To keep school notice boards in staff-room updated liaising with the Deputy Head Teacher
  • Reception – visitor management, telephone and e-mail messages distribution
  • Provide routine clerical support e.g. photocopying, filing, faxing, e-mailing, complete standard forms, respond to routine correspondence

Desired qualifications:

  • Minimum English & Maths GCSE grades A* - C or equivalent
  • Previous admin experience would be ideal
  • Previous first aid training / qualification would be ideal

Working week:

  • Monday - Friday, 11:30am - 6:00pm
  • One 30 minute lunch break each day
