EARLY YEARS EDUCATOR TRAILBLAZER STANDARD LEVEL 3

OCCUPATIONAL PROFILE

Early Years Educators can work in a range of settings including day care, children’s centres, preschools, reception classes and in a home setting as Childminders. They may work on their own, in teams or supervise others to deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) requirements set by the Government for the learning, development and care of children from birth to 5 years old. The broad purpose of the occupation is to work and interact directly with babies and children on a day to day basis supporting the planning of and delivery of activities, purposeful play opportunities and educational programmes within the ethos of the setting.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

■ 5 GCSEs (A*- C) including English and   Maths

INDUSTRY-SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

■ EYFS requirements to ensure suitability to work with children

Level 2 English and Maths can be included in the programme if not achieved before starting the course.

COURSE OVERVIEW AND LEARNING

The course is delivered on-site by an allocated personal tutor and tailored to individuals place of work. Learners will develop their knowledge to enable them to plan and supervise child and adult activities confidently. They will understand the behaviours required to support babies and young children. They will learn skills to support numeracy and language development and develop an in-depth understanding of theories and psychological practices along with safeguarding and health and safety procedures.

PROGRESSION

■ Upon completion, learners can progress to a range of Level 4 and 5 qualifications including Early Years Practitioner, Teaching Assistant and Children & Young Family Practitioner
