Kurtis Property was established in 1989. We pride ourselves on our ability to continue developing as a well-known residential Estate and Letting Agency in East London and Essex. We offer a tailor-made service to suit our clients’ needs. As a broad-based multi-disciplined, independent practice, we are able to incorporate a combination of expertise encompassing the complete knowledge required in the ever-changing property industry.

Why did you choose to take on an Apprentice?

We needed to recruit, and our management team believed hiring an Apprentice would improve the range of skills we have within our organisation because we can adapt their training to meet the needs of the business.

How was the process?

Hiring an Apprentice makes the recruitment process more straightforward, and our training provider managed that for us, including advertising the roles, pre-screening candidates and arranging the interviews.

Aspire to Learn discussed the suitable courses that applied to the role and explained how the process worked, such as the 20% off the job training, employer incentives. They also deliver the training programmes for us and create individual learning plans for each Apprentice. We had continuous support from Helen and the Aspire team throughout.

How did the Apprentice contribute to your business?

It encouraged us to look at how we do things. We share and pass on our knowledge and expertise to people keen to learn about our business and sector. They develop new skills, which has enhanced Kurtis's internal skills development within the company.

What advice would you give to businesses when considering Apprenticeships?

We would definitely recommend taking on an Apprentice. They are keen and willing to learn about how your company works and understand your industry. We can mould their working habits and develop and integrate them into your company your way. It's a win-win outcome because our learners develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours relevant to our business. They are earning money and gaining a respected and relevant qualification at the end of the course.

When talking to training providers, it's not the company's size that matters; what matters more is the quality of training, the flexibility of learning, care and safeguarding provided to learners and of course, their pass rate. We would advise employers to discuss these topics when talking to providers and why we chose to work with Aspire to Learn to deliver our Apprenticeships.

What is the next step for your Apprentice/s? Have they remained employed with your Kurtis?

Both Apprentices are still employed by Kurtis and will continue to be, with room to develop their careers with the knowledge they have gained.
