An apprenticeship is a great way to add talent to your business and to Upskill key staff with new skills. As well as learning on the job, Apprentices undertake a course that gives them a valued qualification.
Part of the formal programme of training is the requirement that leaners are provided with 20% off-the-job training which is one of the core principles that underpins a quality apprenticeship. This requirement applies to apprenticeships at all levels.
What is off-the-job training?
Off-the-job training is defined as learning which is undertaken outside of the normal day-to-day working environment within contracted hours, leading towards the achievement of an apprenticeship.
What's not included
How should off-the-job training be delivered?
It’s up to employers and to decide an appropriate delivery model and agree what can be included and might be regular day release, block release and special training days/workshops. Off-the-job training cannot be delivered solely by distance learning. If you use a training provider, the learning is more than likely 1:1 and bespoke to your company and our tutors will work with you to agree the most suitable timings.
