Apprenticeship Service Notice - You can now reserve apprenticeship funding for up to 10 Apprentices

Reservation of funds for employers that do not pay the Apprenticeship Levy

From 1 June 2022, we are making updates to the reservation of funds for employers who do not pay the Apprenticeship Levy. This change will enable employers to recruit additional apprentices and provide them with greater flexibility and certainty when planning their apprenticeship programmes. It is made in recognition of the important role SMEs play in creating apprenticeship opportunities.

Employers can make up to 10 new reservations

From 1 June 2022, reservation levels will be reset to zero for employers who do not pay the Apprenticeship Levy.

This will enable employers to make up to 10 new reservations to fund apprenticeship starts.

Any reservations made before 1 June 2022 will not be affected and will not count against the new cap levels from this date.

We will continue to monitor the number of reservations used by employers who do not pay the Apprenticeship Levy and we will keep this under review.

Funds transferred from employers who pay the levy to other employers through the apprenticeship service are not included when measuring the number of reservations.

Employers who do not pay the Apprenticeship Levy can reserve funds for training and assessment in the ‘finance’ section of their apprenticeship service account. They can also give training providers permission to do this on their behalf.

With many ‘Aspiring Apprentices’ leaving school, college and university in the next few weeks now is a great time to take advantage of the reset of the funding reservations above.
